Foyer Folk : Julie July Trio at Number 8, Pershore
Julie July have built a substantial reputation on re-interpretations of Sandy Denny songs and play a heartfelt tribute to the great singer-songwriter. In her brief career Denny left a legacy of beautiful, haunting original and traditional compositions. Who Knows Where the Time Goes? was voted favourite folk-track of all time by listeners of BBC Radio 2. The acoustic trio perform a selection of her songs from Strawbs, Fairport Convention and Denny’s solo career.
The trio will also be bringing us their own original material inspired by the wider folk, rock and blues movements of the sixties and seventies, including tracks from Lady of the First Light and the band’s new album Wonderland. Their style ranges from dreamy acoustic folk songs to driving progressive folk-rock with passing references to psychedelia and country.
