Janet Shaw – ‘Paintings in Textile & Stitch 2’ Exhibition at Number 8.
Janet’s work is drawn from ideas about landscape in and around Pershore as well as visits to other parts of the UK and beyond. Some of Janet’s work was inspired by the things she sees, such as the frost on a window pane with the sun shining on it. The exhibition also includes some work inspired by the wonderful images on the Hubble Gallery of deep space.
All of the artwork is created using the medium of textile and stitch. Janet uses a variety of techniques including, laid on thread work, drawn thread work, free machine embroidery, applique, hand embroidery freely worked, and some work includes combinations of these techniques.
